Chinmaya Temple, Andover, MA
There are many Hindu temples in Boston area.
Chiinmaya Temple in Andover has unique place in the heart of all devotees.
Friday, June 13, 2003, marked a milestone in Chinmaya Mission Boston history with the inauguration of its new centre, "Sri Chinmaya Maruti Temple".
Sri Chinmaya Maruti Temple (SCMT) offers its members and the general public with a place of worship and contemplation. The resident deity of the temple is Maruti (Lord Hanuman). An immortal soul from the age of Ramayana, Lord Hanuman embodies devotion and service, the very qualities central to the mission of Chinmaya.
The idol of Lord Hanumand - Maruti - is made of white marble. Looking at Hanumanji's most attractive face with a hint of a smile one is overcome with a feeling of peace and quiet. He instills all who worship him with fearlessness. Chinmaya Maruti has 24-carat gold leaf ornaments with gold trimmed beautifully coloured clothes and a pastel coloured garland. Hanumanji's utsav murti (idol), 2 ft high with hands folded and made of pancha dhatu is used for regular abhishek.
Daily worship and special pujas in the shrine are performed by our learned Priests. Maha Shivaratri, Shri Rama Navami, Krishna Janmashtami, Ganesha Chaturthi, Deepavali, and Srinivasa Kalyanam are some examples of festivals that are celebrated.
