Today is my husband's birthday. For years after the 9/11 tragedy, whenever he'd tell anyone his birthdate, people would react, remembering the other 9/11. And that's ok.
The date is now a time for reflection, remembering those we lost, the brave first responders, the shock and fear, and, finally, what it means to be an American. It's the date that changed the world as we knew it, and one that must never be forgotten.
