Here are more fun Halloween facts of which you may not be aware.
There are still a few more days of facts coming.so stop by daily and enjoy.
- According to tradition, if a person wears his or her clothes inside out and then walks backwards on Halloween, he or she will see a witch at midnight
- Mexico celebrates the Days of the Dead (Días de los Muertos) on the Christian holidays All Saints’ Day (November 1) and All Souls’ Day (November 2) instead of Halloween. The townspeople dress up with all manner of masks and costumes and parade down the street
- During the pre-Halloween celebration of Samhain (see my other facts for more information on this festival), bonfires were lit to ensure the sun would return after the long winter. Druid priests would throw the bones of cattle into the flames and, hence, the term “bonfire comes for thr druid practise of “bone fire”. Yucky!
- Dressing up as ghouls, ghasts, ghosts and goblins originated with the ancient Celtic tradition of townspeople disguising themselves as demons and ghosts. The Celts believed that disguising themselves this way would allow them to escape the notice of the real ghosts and demons wandering the streets during Samhain
- About half of all children trick or treating prefer to receive chocolate on Halloween over all other candies and treats!
