SOMETIMES PLANTS ARE THE BEST DECORATIONS, indoor and out!

Getting your home ready for sale? Don’t feel you need to invest in a professional stager or to spend the money? Or your home is already perfect and you just want to make sure you put the best “face” on it?

When in doubt, or just because you want to and they look great, add some plants! They are among the cheapest and most effective decorations you can find. Plants liven up empty spaces, add color and cheer, gladden the soul, especially flowering ones.

Live plants are best as they are literally “living” and help contribute to healthier indoor air quality. There are also many artificial plants and flowers available as well as potted trees that look very real and other than the occasional dusting, don’t require the care that live plants do; they don’t shrivel up and die if you accidentally neglect them. Some artificial plants are quite beautiful and can be a little pricey (look for sales!), but are still worth it.

I was delighted that my teenage son chose to have plants in his dorm room. He now has one hanging near a window and one on his desk. What a difference it made in an otherwise standard dorm environment! The room looks much homier, cozier, somehow more “alive” and as an added benefit, the plants seem to be a bit of a “chick magnet”, to boot! Actually, everyone loves them, not just the ladies.

So, if plants can enhance a cinder block boring dorm room, imagine what they can do for your home! Give it a try and have fun with it!

You are so absolutely right - plants add so much to any property and for a few dollars, even the tightest of budgets can accommodate bright, flowering plants on the front porch.

I would prefer a plant vs fake decorations in my opinion.

As long as they are real plants then i completely agree although some silk plants can be beautifully done.

Good morning Olga.  Plants and I do not get along.  I leave that to my wife, she knows a lot about them, me on the other hand, I don't have a clue.

Good evening Olga Simoncelli ,  I agree!  There's nothing live plants to make a homey atmosphere.  We have a lot of plants, inside and out.

Michael J. Perry - absolutely, plants love carbon dioxide and absorb it, thus purifying our air for us.
