Dawn of a New Day

This morning we got up early due to heat and humidity in Jupiter Florida and with no wind. Walking the beach is still a Zen moment for me but today I was headed back to Oklahoma City for business and leaving my wife behind. The sun over the ocean made me think that this is not all sadness and given that the temperature today was up to 109 in Oklahoma City maybe it wasn't so bad. I arrived at the airport and by the time I went to the gate the second delay in frlight time was posted. Realizing that I would be stuck in Atlanta I went to the Delta Lounge and they rebooked me for tomorrow. It is so easy to lose it when your schedule is disrupted, so in monents I use what I deemed in college to be the cosmic giggle. It is when you reach a point of absurdity and instead of cursing the bad luck you laugh uncontrollably for no apprent reason that does not match the circumstances. This brings joy back into the universe and the binus is I get to see the sunrise again over the ocean. At 35 I might not think this way but hey, you don't get older, you just embrace absudity, realize that life is full of paradoxes that you don't make a choice on, and from this a new reality is forged every morning. Plus, the temperature is going down tomorrow in Oklahoma City. Life is but a dream, Shaboom!

Shaboom! You sure make me smile with this post, Joe. And yes, we may as well go merrily down the stream, as life is but a dream.

Even under the best of circumstances, I'm not crazy about flying anymore.  It certainly gets us to our destination quicker than driving, but I hate airports with a passion.  And, the slowly shrinking seat and leg room doesn't help either.

Hi Joe--What a nice post to read! It is a charming feast of words that giveth understanding--if you get my drift! It made me remember those times when I was frustrated to no end...I have to get down to the level of the ground to see where I can rise to and this post made me see that it's not that far. Just turn it around and any circumstance will improve...Thanks for sharing this and thanks also to Kathy for pointing it out on her "Ah-ha Moment"!!

Good morning, Joe... there is a reason they say "laughter is the best medicine." Learning how to deal with situations that are out of your control makes for a very "freeing" life.

Hi Joe

Sorry to hear of your trials but having a cosmic giggle makes a lot of sense! We know about the popular saying about laughter! Travling by air these days is often time for a giggle I think.

Throwing a fit would not have changed the circumstances but just made you feel bad and those around you. Laughing is always good medicine.

Good morning Joe - your post just reminded me of a Zig Ziglar presentation when he was stuck in an airport and the flight was canceled.  He said "fantastic" and built his whole presentation around that.  All in the attitude.

I admire your jet setting ways, although traveling to and fro would not be ideal. Sometimes the circumstances are so absurd you have to laugh to keep from crying.

Joe Pryor - From the beginning, I was captivated by the gorgeous photograph. Vicariously, I was in the "zen" moment with you on that beach.

In a day in our life when young men and women seem to be going in different directions and have little to no time for each other, it is refreshing to know, without a shadow of a doubt, how much you love your wife and cherish her by your side. Business is business. But nothing can replace the time lost without the one you love.

Joe, you're such a prolific writer with excellent word choices to bring clarity to the reader about how you were feeling in the moment. "Cosmic giggle," is a good description of accepting the things you cannot change, but changing the things you can.

I really am thankful for people like you who motivate me to become a better writer. When it comes to the command of the English language, you're one of the best on ActiveRain.
