Teachers Should Always Motivate Their Students

Most students spend almost their entire day at school. It is here where behavior, social characteristics and moral values start to form; some students do not have the emotional, mental and spiritual support at home from family members that teachers could and should be able to provide to their students. A teacher, as an expert, should learn to trigger interest and curiosity on their students; teachers should encourage students to show their abilities, advocate for equal educational rights and higher education as well as endorsing at least one characteristic of their students. Constantly practicing these methods will increase students’ productivity, curiosity, intellectual reasoning and understanding expansion, etc. Teacher should teach outside the curriculum, nothing like writing discursive essays or book summaries (i.e. Bartleby the Scrivener summary, A Rose for Emily, A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings summary, etc.); teach values, show and make students realize that they matter, teach student life lessons, basic life responsibilities such as how credit cards work, how to budget, how to maintain motivated, how to practice self-care, etc., and truly believe in their students; teachers should make classrooms safe and secure by caring about student’s struggles and problems outside or inside of school.

Most importantly, a teacher should love what they do in order to really impact a student’s life. Most students attend school almost their entire day. It is here where behavior, social characteristics and moral values start to form; some students do not have the emotional, mental and spiritual support at home from family members that teachers could and should be able to provide to their students.

Following this, a teacher should be knowable of the common core. The common core Ms. Lisa Lee talked about in “Getting at the heart of teaching” at a TEDx Talk. The common core that we all human beings need, those being valued, respected and accepted and seen as who we are. Simple daily self-empowerment, self-affirmation and self-loving activities can boost a student’s feeling of confidence, self-esteem and security throughout the day if not days. A teacher should learn to trigger interest and curiosity on their students, they should encourage students of their abilities, advocate for equal educational rights and higher education, endorse at least one characteristic of their students daily, and truly believe in their students; teachers should make classrooms safe and secure by caring about student’s struggles and problems outside or inside of school. This is where it all should begin with and it will increase student’s productivity, curiosity, intellectual reasoning and understanding expansion, etc.

Thirdly, teacher should teach outside the curriculum; teach values, show and make students realize that they matter, teach student life lessons, basic life responsibilities such as how credit cards work, how to budget, how to maintain motivated, how to practice self-care, etc.

Once teachers learn to love and care for themselves, they will do so for others by teaching them life lessons, importance of self care, and self expansion and “this is when real change, acceptance and learning can occur” Lisa Lee.
