I give up? Anybody out there in Rain-land have an idea as to what this vine could possibly be that is embracing this tree??? I have no idea - I ran across this while out showing homes last weekend!!!
I would really appreciate any information I can get on this strange vine!!!

If that was here, I'd say it's a "strangler fig" - a member of the ficus family. A bird will poop a seed and then it grows and takes hold of whatever it's on.... like a fencepost, another tree or whatever. If the leaves are similar to a ficus, that's it. They are a real nuisance, and should be killed, before it kills the host tree, or before it sets more seeds. See those aerial roots... just like a banyan tree, which is in the ficus family too.
Georgina - You are right - I checked and found out it is indeed a Strangler Fig - we also have banyan trees here - I love them!!!!!!!!!! They are so 'other worldly'!!!!
