Preparing a Home for Sale – Consider Professional Cleaning

By
Real Estate Agent

With so much inventory to choose from, buyers are very particular and want a house to be move-in ready.  I'm talking about squeaky clean bathrooms that are fresh and inviting, sparkling kitchens with appliances free of built up cooking gunk, clean carpets, windows, floors, a fresh, pleasant smell and general air of cleanliness.

Back in the day, my grandmothers did annual "spring cleaning". They went after the deep down dirt that had accumulated over the winter months and had been somewhat neglected during the weekly cleanings. This was a big job that took days and they always hired someone to help them.  This practice results in a squeaky clean house that is comfortable and welcoming - something that buyers demand in today's market.

After you've lived in a house for a while, you no longer notice what someone seeing it for the first time does.  Unless you are one of the rare people who keep an immaculate house, you should consider getting professional help with cleaning your home for resale.

A professional cleaner, such as Jeani's Cleaning (850 566-4759), in Tallahassee, FL, can do an amazing job and make almost any room, especially bathrooms and kitchens seem like new.  Jeani  has refined her methods and tools and is a perfectionist.  I have seen her work turn reluctant buyers, who wouldn't make an offer until the house had been cleaned, into excited buyers who couldn't wait to move in.

Colleen- You are right with the amount of competition, buyers should do whatever they can to make their home shine.

It's amazing what a really good cleaning can do for any home.  I definitely reccommend this for every house I list.

I'm constantly surprised how many buers can't look past the dirt and clutter and see the possibilities.

This as well as the outside, I can't tell you how many I see with overgrown lawns, and general landscaping that needs to be done!

Well written Colleen. I cannot imagine people not doing everything possible to "beat the competition."

You are absoutley right Colleen!  Even in this market, I've seen the "shiny penny" go before the lowest priced property in the same neighborhood.
