Dmoz Help

By
Real Estate Agent with Fowler Realty

Does anyone know how to expedite the process of getting on the DMOZ Directory?  We submited our website 4 months ago with still no results.  They say that if you become a voluteer for them that it might help.  Is that true?  Please help.

Page rank 2 is just not enough to compete with big companies.

I've dealt with them in the past, there really isn't any way to expedite it.  Lots of categories aren't edited very often, and many times getting in is almost pure luck.  Luckily DMOZ doesn't have nearly the relavency in the search world as it once did.

I agree with Matt.  DMOZ is not as helpfull as it used to be but most companies that are on it are at the top of the searches.  Good Luck

DMOZ has been deemed pretty irrelevant at this point. I know it sounds nice to be able to get a directory listing for free, but as with most things, you get what you pay for.

Here are the directories I recommend:

- Yahoo
- Best of The Web
- Business.com

They are will give you inbound link quality as far as Search Marketing, and Yahoo and BOTW both have local elements which should help drive live traffic.

I hope that helps.

Hello Matt,

All the people that are on DMOZ in my area always come up in the search before me.

Thanks,

Tricia

Yes I agree with Tricia.  DMOZ is where it is at.  To bad they will not let us on.
