So, there are two things motivating this trip. Yes, one is getting back to normal. The other thing is to make sure my mom has the best life possible. You see, just before the pandemic I took my mom to Maui for a week to the family timeshare. She hadn’t been there in years because of my dad’s passing away. She and my dad use to do a month in Hawaii as well as 2 other trips in the course of every year. I know my dad would want me to watch over her and make sure she can enjoy each and every day until she joins my dad once again.
My mom loves cruising as do I. And I have never been to the Caribbean. So, I hope to coax her there with me in Spring of 2022. Not just returning to normal post pandemic life, also returning to normal post dad life. I picked out an itinerary that I think would be great.
Day 1 – Miami, Florida (maybe day 2 or 3 of our trip if we can get a little golf in before the cruise leaves)
Day 2 – CocoCay, Bahamas
A private island owned by the cruise line filled with special activities for the day.
Day 3 – Day at sea
Day 4 – Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
A beautiful 13 mile long island
Day 5 – Philipsburg, St. Maarten
Day 6 & 7 – Cruising at sea
Day 8 – Miami
Of course the best thing about cruising is that it is taking care of transportation, accommodations and dining all in one. As long as it gives my mom a great time and something to look forward to in anticipation, that would be wonderful. That in itself would be ideal for me.
Some of us are looking forward to regaining our momentum of life before stay at home orders and masks. Some of us are looking to regain the momentum of something even greater. I am hoping the plan goes well and she will allow the trip to occur. I know that if she is there and I am there, my dad will be there as well.
