I was thinking of the progress that I have made in my use of social media. Especially when it comes to videos. Now I can go from raw data to completed video posted on multiple sites in less than an hour. It wasn't always that way. I had to learn a lot as I went along.
What grabs attention
The first thing that I found was that just because I posted something, didn't mean it would be noticed or watched. If something looks boring or long winded, it gets skipped. I found people want fun, new and short.
Here was my first video I ever made for my channel:
I laugh as I watch that as I was still learning what would catch on. At least it was quick.
This was my first to get over 300 views:
That shopping mall was completely empty because I had nobody to spend Christmas with - so I taped it on Christmas day in a shopping mall. LOL! But hey - not bad to forecast for an entire year in only 4 minutes 30 seconds.
The humor phase
This is when I was told to lean into humor. Obviously, the title drew many viewers:
Obviously, it was where I also changed sound effects and musical choices. And of course, brought in some puns. LOL
Speaking of music, here was a classic using a musical parody on renting vs buying
Great facts, fun character to play (actually a Halloween costume that led me to choose that angle).
Here is when I learned that you can say something positive and yet use a word like "crash" to stimulate viewership
Finally, after a year, I learned how to tease my subject in the beginning of the video and have even more folks watch. Despite the fact that this video is over 12 minutes, I still got over 600 views. Here, I covered the housing forecast for the year 2022
One of the ways I started getting new views were the words of controversy I placed in the preview.
Along the way, I learned how to use various tools - both hardware and software. We did a Tuesday call on those a year ago. If you have questions about how to do these for your business, let me know.
