Teresa - Welcome to Active Rain and congrats on your first post.  In our area we've had online access to county records for many years....it is a great, indispensible tool for us.  What type of records are you referring to?  Perhaps I'm not understanding your question...

Thanks for the welcome!  I've opened a title agency and have found some of the counties have online access to real estate records. However, some counties do not have online access to real estate records.  It does seem like a great solution for searches and have not heard any dissenting opinions about online access.

I appreciate the reassurance.  I've performed real estate transactions in your area and it is great to hear from someone there!  At that time the North Atlanta area (Cumming area) was growing and the real estate market was thriving.  It is entirely possible we have had contact with some of the same people, as I worked with some attorneys in that area and have contacts in the military community as well.

It certainly is convenient to have access to the real estate records and tax assessments online.  It seems like it would alleviate traffic at the courthouse and keep the records in good order.

Welcome to Active Rain. I hope you will enjoy it and learn from it as much as I do. Happy Blogging.

We have our county records online in the county I am in but the surrounding counties don't. I love having ours online. It makes thing so much easier for so many things. I am able to get property size. When writing a contract get the owners names and all of them without bothering a listing agent. I can see the taxes that were paid if the agent doesn't put them on MLS. I have even seen where several of my clients that have closed haven't filed the proper paperwork to get the lower property tax. We have two different taxes on properties. If you live in the house you are at 4%. If it is an investment, you are at 6%. I have called people on this and told them to file the paperwork and saved them thousands of dollars because of this system.

Hope that helps. That is my 2cents.
