I recently sold a HUD house in Perry township. My buyers decided to have a home inspection done.
In order for us to have the inspections done, HUD gives us 3 days to have the property de-witerized, utilities turned on and inspections completed.
I had a two hour time frame for the water and gas company to come and turn on the utilities. I decided to take a good book and park in the driveway of the property and wait very patiently. I wasn't even there a half hour until not one but two Perry police cars drive up. I wondered what was going on, but then the two officers started walking up the driveway to my car. I got out and explained about being the Realtor ,Hud properties and utilities.
This is definitely a first for me. Either a neighbor has too much time on their hands or they really have a good neighborhood watch.
Did I really look that threatening sitting in my car, reading a book?
Where are the police when the copper pipes are being stolen out of the vacant houses? Hunting down suspicious looking Realtors!
