Football Fun at Open Houses

By
Real Estate Agent with MVP Realty

I try to avoid having open houses, during the 16 sacred weeks of football season, but if I MUST, I always make sure to have the game on at the open house.  Sound unprofessional?  Maybe, but I've found people love it - especially the guys.  They get their team update while their wife checks out the kitchen - and it gets them to stay a little bit longer as well.  I've also found that it builds rapport as you can find a common ground - all football fans love to "talk football."  No better way to break the ice than by telling them their team is winning!

Go ahead - turn on the tv and grab a beer.  Just kidding - no beer at open houses!!!  :-)

Football, a woman who is a fan, and beer?? Sounds like a successful open house to me (even if the beer is only implied!) - Jim

Yeah, I'm not right.  Manicure, pedicure, dresses, heels, football, beer.....go figure!

Mindy - nothing wrong with a little football.  I'm a huge fan, too.

If you MUST work on football Sunday, it's definitely the way to go!

Great post!  I am going to use your idea about football at open houses and I think it will work!  Your right people love to talk about football and I can see it being a good conversation starter....

Clever Girl...

Cheeky Munkey!

A great marketing idea... The only question I have is, do the women react well to their husbands not paying attention to the house and instead watching the game... It's one thing to lose attention during a shopping trip for a dress or shoes, but an investment like a home...

If it works, keep it up and all the best!

Thanks Sean!  I haven't had any bad reactions from the women.  I think some are just happy their husbands quit complaining for a while about having to go to open houses.  Let's face it, the woman is the one who is the decision maker anyway!  lol!
