I have been reading a lot lately about marketing yourself and I wanted to share a thought with you - A man had told the story ----He lead the man to the front of a crowded room and asked the question --- If you know this man, stand up please --- No one in the room stood up! He turned to the man and said "You are in trouble" -- People need to know you by your face! Put it everywhere - The point is that you want to become known for whatever business it is that you are in --- You want people to say. Oh, that is that Realtor, or that is the banker, or whatever it is that you do --- You need to have your face everywhere that you can and soon people will begin to recognize you!
Hi,
Great post and what a great way to make a point. I have a unusual name and that helps me some but I agree get yourself out there. Good luck!!

We have a saying in our office, don't be a secret agent! Let everyone know what you are doing!
Norma, Those are true words. Once eveyone knows your face you have to be more aware of your surroundings on a regular basis as well.
Norma, great point. This is why I use my picture in ActiveRain and almost every other website that I belong to because people can relate them all together.
Norma, We all forget this simple fact and wonder why our phones don't ring! How is that new business going by the way, Hope all is well...
I agree with the first few responders that your name is probably more important than your face. Not everyone will remember what people look like, but they do remember names.
Hi Norma. I am working on that! :) We also need to remember to keep an to date picture so that we look like the picture we are putting up everywhere.
Thanks for the post, I agree. If no one knows who you are then no one is going to call you.
I know a lot of the comments have said it is so much more important to get your name out and I agree --- however, I yet feel your face is so important also --- even when you are out and about - people should be able to recognize your FACE and they will if it is out enough --- thanks to all that has commented -----
I think we need to be top of mind, but I don't know that that has to be your face. I tend to use my logo more than my picture.
Norma, whether we like it or not, marketing is a critical aspect of our business! Every day.
Norma you are sooo right on about this one! Some people look at aggressive self-marketing as "vain"...I look at as the key to one's survival in today's cluttered and crowded marketplace. Great post!
"Secret" agents or inspectors or stagers just don't last long.
EVERYBODY has to know what it is that you do. When people pick on me for having my cards always available and dumping them everywhere or always wearing my business name, I just smile and laugh.
I KNOW that people won't hire me if they don't know what it is that I do for a living.
I love to see those marketing pictures that show a person 20 years younger than they are now. Kinda funny actually. Nobody recognizes them because they no longer look ANYTHING like their pubic picture.
Though i'd agree, business name is more important than the picture.
A very old story but still true, although perhaps not as much. In this day and age, one may never have the opportunity to meet the person in, uh, person. We're turning into a virtual reality world -- Interent, television, game boys. Etc. Perhaps if he had said, "Have you ever heard of ____________" more people might have raised their hands.
Marketing is key, though. It needs to be done persistently and consistently on a daily basis. If done that way, the goals for the weeks, months, quarters, and years just naturally fall into place.
Today is the first day of the rest of your life -- make it a good start.
And they need to know your face with positive emotions rather than other feelings.
Hey, Norma.
I see that this is your last blog post. I hope everything's okay with you and that you'll seen be back to Play in the Rain with us.
It is great to be reconised.. at least let they know your name and they can say.. oh yeah... I have heard about that person
Norma,
Being the face of your profession in your market makes you a top producer......
