Chris Brogan posed the challenge to come up with 3 words that define my goals for this year. I accept this challenge since I can think of nothing better than moving on from 2008 and into more 2009 positive territory. I want to personally thank him for bringing up this challenge.
The 3 words I come up with are, reestablish, exposure and belief. Let me explain the details of my 3 words for 2009.
I have recently moved from Broker-Owner of my own company to a Broker-Associate at Coldwell Banker. This has required getting out of my comfort zone of managing an office with several agents to becoming an agent again. That means I have to do real estate. Not sit in an office, motivating others and solving other people’s problems. It means motivating myself and solving my own customer’s problems and reestablishing myself as a Broker Associate, learning about the newest marketing techniques and taking charge of my own career again.
The reestablishing part rolls right into the exposure part, because part of being an Realtor again, means getting out into the public, reminding people of what I’ve been doing for 20+ years, learning about web social media, etc. This learning about the newest marketing techniques as a means of reestablishing and revealing myself to the world has been tremendously enlightening and enjoyable. The internet’s social media world has become extremely rewarding. I think I have posted a profile in the most common of the social networks and have enjoyed meeting new associates across the country and reconnecting with old friends from high school.
The last part of my 3 goal words is belief. For me to move out of my comfort zone means believing in myself and knowing that I am the best person out there for the job. I have always believed this, but in a tough real estate market, it’s easy to get punched down and harder to get up. I will not allow this to happen to me, I will write down affirmations each day, read self-improvement books, and just always see the cup ½ full, which is my true MO anyway.
As Christopher Penn said, I will unleash my potential in 2009!
