Make no mistake, it's always survival of the fittest, the pandemic demonstrates that. But aside from the laws of nature, no, the ADD American mind will grow weary of this soon, realize we've have survived 5 major pandemics in the last 17 years and move on to our new normal. 61,000 died of common flu last year in the USA alone, where was that panic? It's a serious situation bastardized by the media to create an election year frenzy.

Richie,
I agree with Thomas J. Nelson, Realtor e-Pro, CRS, RCS-D, Vets and there is plenty of toilet paper here.

This is people being people. The Stock Market crash in 1929 had people jumping off buildings and a run on the bank. I know at least 1 person who has emptied their bank account in case there's a run(????) Overall we have become a nation filled with people who believe they are victims

Lots of people are calling each other and getting opinions of what to do. I heard people are fighting over buying the last of the toilet paper.

Yes, panic run-off in stores by the sheep who only recently opened their eyes to prep when the media said it was OK to. Mind you that you, me and the majority of Americans live in places where natural disasters from earthquakes to tornados to hurricanes strike, some without warning.
What this is, is simply a national version of "The hurricane is coming, lets get to the store now." It is good to be preparred and I suspect that food banks will be overflowing and able to serve great meals to those in need in the upcoming months, should our protective measures and limited border closures work.

We all chose whether to participate in such activity at our own peril. I highly doubt that anyone is going to suffer without more stuff.

How many real estate agents will be among those who contract the coronavirus and die?

Well, I heard from someone else that there was no soup left & when I got to the store (Walmart) they were totally correct. No mac & cheese, soup, hot dogs - that's all I could remember. I didn't even look at TP.

It is always survival of the fittest .. we are just seeing it live in action in our daily lives ... like the grocery store. INSANE!

The 'fittest' are already prepared. What is being witnessed is the panic of the naive or irresponsible.

I think everyone should always have enough supplies at home in the event they are stuck there for some reason. The people running around now are those who don't believe the same. I think the store thing will settle down.
I do think there will be many who are going to have financial issues as a result of the closing of all these businesses/venues/etc, and as a result of the stock market issues.
As for survival of the fittest and "dog eat dog" - we're never far off from this.

This is all media fed Richie Alan Naggar and further fed by politics. I sincerely hope the people of the USA see that the hype is all done for personal gain and turn against those who are promoting "the sky is falling" attitude.

People here paniced when they announced schools will be closed for 2-3 weeks. Parents weren't expecting all their kids would be home all of a sudden, so they rushed out and stocked up on supplies. I figure within a week things will calm down, and supplies will stabilize. The bad part is many part time workers were suddenly without paychecks, and people are staying away from restaurants or any place where there are crowds of people. That will hurt small businesses, people that work for tips, and anyone scraping by paycheck to paycheck.

America is a diverse country and the response to any situation is equally as diverse. Some respond with kindness and others trample over others to get what they want.

I'm going to do a test run to my local 99 cent store in a few minutes. I was there a few days ago and there were plenty on the shelves and no panicking. I will report back shortly.
