If you are planning to buy home in Florida during Hurricane Season (June 1st to November 30th), there is one very important thing you should remember.
If hurricane gets close to Florida (actually it does not have to be very close- view picture below), and it reaches “box”, you will not be able to secure homeowner’s insurance on your future house. Even if hurricane’s path is nowhere near the city where you are purchasing, you are out of luck. And unfortunately this most likely won’t be “one day” setback.So be prepared, secure your insurance as soon as possible...and be safe.

Hurricane season is almost here
Hurricane season on East Coast of USA starts on June 1st and ends on November 30th. Florida/Port St Lucie was lucky during last 10 years…But for us who lived here in 2004 it does not mean that we can disregard those dates. In 2004 we had two hurricanes going straight through St Lucie and Martin County (Frances and Jeanne).
We lived weeks without power, we have seen damaged homes, flooded streets. Eye of the hurricane is not just “word” for us. We actually have seen clear sky while waiting for the rest of storm to hit. So … (3 comments)

If you bought home in Florida last year and it is your primary residence, please remember that you have just a little bit over a month left to file for Homestead Exemption. Deadline is on March 2nd. You have to apply only once but you do- have to apply to receive it, even if property was homesteaded when you purchased it.

Shock generally comes when prospective buyers get their inspection reports back. Inspector’s job is to find problems with house, which is why we love them and hire them. But many of those problems only require simple and/or inexpensive fixes.

The Port St Lucie City Council voted against allowing the Torino Treatments Campus last night. The campus would have two buildings, a detox center for patients staying for 5 to 7 days and a 30 day rehab facility.
Dozens of people who live in the Torino Drive area spoke out against it, saying that stigma of detox centers have will wreck their neighborhood, Port St Lucie risks becoming a dumping ground for other city and states and that it was all about the money.
