Our mayor's secretary in Broadview Heights, Ohio sends us regular e-mail messages from the mayor's office to keep us informed about the city. Yesterday we received a brief reminder to remember to call 811 before we or our contractor do any digging on our property. I had not heard of this before so I did a little research. In the Pipeline Safety Improvement Act of 2002, Congress mandated the establishment of a national 3 digit number. In an article written 4/22/09 by Laura Johnston, a Plain Dealer Reporter, it was stated the property taxes in Cuyahoga County will likely decrease....yes, that is decrease! In all my adult home ownership days I cannot remember a time when my property taxes went down so this will be very interesting if it comes to pass.
The statement came from Cuyahoga County auditor Frank Russo, and while he said that the taxes won't plummet, they will drop as much as 8% across the county.

I meant to post this in time for Easter but I just ran out of time. My Mom, who is now 86, grew up in Yugoslavia. There was no such thing as an Easter egg coloring kit so they had to be creative. Now I really don't know where this method of coloring eggs originated but this is how my Mom and her family did it.When you boil the eggs, add onion peels to the water, the deepest, brownest ones you can find. The Broadview Heights Ohio Recreation Center has great programs for all ages but here are some specific ones that senior citizens might enjoy or find useful.
Beginner computer classes, a series of 6, two hour sessions, but limited to 7 students per class. Time and date will be scheduled upon registration.
