newport oregon: This peep box "home" has been staged! - 05/09/17 06:17 PM
Here is a photo of my latest peepbox.
I made this new peepbox early this morning from a tea box, junk mail, a stapler, tape and plastic bags. Oh yeah - an Abba Zabba wrapper was involved as well! I washed and dried the wrapper before using for my flooring and curtains.
Oh look, the Witchita Lineman is outside today!
Look! There is even a frozen lake for us to ice skate today! All photos taken of the same box, different cameras and angles were used.
Thanks for visiting!

newport oregon: Peep box, real estate and a xylophone, all mushed together! - 04/19/17 07:26 PM
Here is a photo of my latest peep box creation, constructed from junk mail, a small tea box and a stapler. This morning I had a difficult real estate problem to solve, which included a phone call which required concentration. I paced back and forth a couple of times,  finished my tea, found the scissors and put together a miniature peep box diarama, created from the empty tea box and a pile of junk mail which needed recycling. Ahhhhh, that's better! I can think again. Welcome to my little world!

newport oregon: New Years Eve in Newport, Oregon! - 10/21/14 01:52 AM

It may be a bit early for 2015, however, I know where I will be.....
Playing vibraphone with the Lincoln Pops Big Band at the Embarcadero Resort on New Years Eve!
Here is my well loved vibraphone. It is a vintage Musser Pro Vibraphone, circa 1975, manufactured by the Ludwig Drum Company.
I play it with four yarn wrapped mallets to form chords, much as you would if you played a piano with two fingers on each hand.
If you find yourself in Newport, Oregon over the holidays, treat yourself to a night of dining and dancing!! Call me, Barbara … (1 comments)

newport oregon: Can a dirty pet door affect the sale of a house? - 04/16/14 04:16 AM

AAck! The inside of this house had granite kitchen, wood flooring and actually looked pretty good, it even smelled OK despite the fact that two large dogs lived there.
When the agent wanted feedback, I sent this photo. The agent thanked me for the visual and forwarded to the sellers.
My buyers were left with the impression that the exterior had "excessive damage," and made an offer on a different home.
The home remained listed for months, at a reduced sale price. Without this dirty pet door issue, I might have been the agent who wrote an offer instead of sending feedback.
Permission to post this photo was obtained from listing … (8 comments)

newport oregon: South Beach State Park, Newport, Oregon walking tour (#7 in series) - 01/07/13 02:39 AM

Here is the grand entrance to the campground. Immediately to the left of this gate are the RV amenities, a little further ahead you will find the host camp and information center. There are planned activities and group hiking for those who like to meet new fellow campers.

The play area is relatively new and has some fun apparatus for the kids to play with.

Stay tuned for more photos of the my walking tour of South Beach State Park in beautiful Newport, Oregon!

newport oregon: Oceanview is possible without flood insurance or cliff erosion! Take a look! - 09/25/11 06:28 AM

Many whitewater oceanviews are sitting in a flood zone, which requires an extra insurance payment every year.  If they are up high enough to be out of a flood zone, they often have cliff erosion issues to worry about.  I present to you an excellent example of a quality home listed at $ 429,000.00 which has the best of everything: Out of the flood zone, on a gentle slope, a short walk from the beach, on a .25 acre corner lot in Waldport, Oregon. This photo was taken on Sept. 24, 2011 at about 2:00pm. The morning fog had lifted, … (1 comments)

newport oregon: Good News! Home prices are stabilizing in Newport! Could it be the sunny day?! - 07/23/10 01:04 PM

Maybe it is a coastal phenomenon, maybe it is a miracle - Home prices are starting to stabilize here in Newport!  Could it be the Baby Boomers looking for a nice place to retire? Could it be the outrageously good prices on ocean view properties with the hope of future appreciation?  Could it be that Newport is a growing coastal community that is a pleasant temperature most of the year? I think it is because Newport is just a great place to live! Recently, we have been on the map due to NOAA moving here to use the Yaquina Bay … (2 comments)

newport oregon: The Oregon Coast is more than just a pretty beach! - 06/08/10 08:25 AM
Here is a photo of a lovely spot atop one the Twin Bridges in Logsden, Oregon. Here you can see the Siletz river, which runs all the way to the ocean and out to the Siletz Bay. There are hundreds of fun fishing cabins along the way, and in the mid summer, entire familes can be seen drifting atop inner tubes for a leisurely ride from one State Park in Siletz to the other. The fishing is outstanding in this river, I have seen some good sized steelhead and salmon pulled from its banks.

The area is dotted with farms and is … (4 comments)
