Usually when you see a rider on a horse, the horse is ridden in a saddle and a bridle with reins. Because there are reins, most people believe that this is how you control the horse. This is false.
First off, no one can control a horse (or any living being for that matter). The horse knows it is much stronger and larger than you, therefore, is able to push you around instead. I certainly do not wish to be pushed around by a 1200 or more pound (0 comments)

Horses live in herds and a herd has an hierarchy. One horse is the leader of the herd, then there is the one just below in rank (sort of like a president, then vice president, etc.), and so on.
