inspection: Got Bees? (More uses for infrared) - 11/14/08 12:08 AM
I was scanning a home during a normal inspection and the bright spot on the right caught my eye.  I took a closer look with a zoom camera lens and found the nonpaying tenants to the left.

They were up high enough that I may have missed them without the IR
They had not caused any damage that I could find, so an exterminator was called.  Always call a professional to deal with bees.  The sting factor is one thing but there are special rules in many states to deal with honey bees.

inspection: Infrared, Good for more than just home insection - 11/13/08 05:12 AM
Pipes in the floor.  It can be very useful if you need to drill or cut the floor for renovation.

Ceiling looks normal

But there was a broken pipe in the ceiling of this foreclosed home.  A few minutes later it started to rain in the living room.  ;-)  If you have a leak and are unsure of the source.  A trained thomographer can be a big help.

Many more to follow.
