With Hurricane Season starting, who is responsible for protecting the vacant, foreclosed homes? As stated in the following article, Foreclosures add to hurricane hazards, "... no state laws mandate who prepares buildings before a hurricane; even officials from the Florida Division of Emergency Management say that securing foreclosures isn't a concern." Technically, the legal homeowner would have the responsibility of securing their property prior to a storm. A checklist for Securing your property includes the roof, shutters, doors, windows.
