Here in Northeast Los Angeles, we have amazing homes of every size, style and description; from small cottages built in the 1800s, to mid-century modern and newly built contemporary.
In my quest to properly name the styles of homes in my neighborhood, I have been buying and reading architectural textbooks.
One small volume I bought is titled "What Style Is It" and there are a couple sentences in the introduction that so perfectly describe the homes in Northeast Los Angeles, I just had to quote them here:

The good folks from The Wall Las Memorias Project uploaded these two short videos of last Saturday's Peace in the Northeast March. There was a large turnout, and the march was well received.
Sadly, even as the marchers were moving along York Boulevard, a shooting went down a few blocks away on Avenue 60.
I am not naive enough to believe that the answer can be found in speeches, or meetings, or even marches.
So what is the answer? Where is it found?

The Figueroa Street Business District could become a "Living Backlot" ® Read Robert Mendel's proposal. Mendel proposes that creating a an organized, film-friendly corridor along North Figueroa would stimulate tourism to the area, create business for the local shop owners, and begin generating funds necessary to restore the building facades along the corridor.

In 1903 an influential group of women formed the Highland Park Ebell Club, and when the elite women's organization opened a clubhouse ten years later, more than 20,000 people attended the colorful ceremonies.
One of the first causes championed by the local women was the preservation of the land around the Arroyo Seco as a park, and it remains a park today.

A long time resident of NELA (Northeast LA) and a highly regarded Location Manager, Robert Mendel once called the streets of Northeast Los Angeles a "living backlot".
