cleveland ohio attractions: Cleveland To Host 2014 Gay Games - 10/18/09 11:41 AM
Cleveland was selected on 9/29/2009 by The Federation of Gay Games to host The 2014 Gay Games.
The Cleveland Synergy Foundation was started in large part to organize the bid for the games and was lead by Doug Anderson, Jeff Axberg and Brian Tavolier.  I got to know Doug and Jeff as their buyer's agent when they relocated to Cleveland several years ago and after getting to know them, as well as Brian, I can see how this trio along with immense help from individuals, the City of Cleveland, various economic development partnerships, etc., were successful in their quest.

cleveland ohio attractions: Cleveland Ohio - Big City Amenities in a Mid-Sized Town - 07/12/09 04:37 PM
Cleveland Ohio.
This name evokes many things, depending on the person and past associations.
Some view the Greater Cleveland Ohio has a former powerhouse that built it's fortune a century ago in molten steel and oil.  Some view it as a former Fortune 500 powerhouse with an unmatched manufacturing base that is well situated within about 600 miles of the most of the major markets in the country.  Some view it as a declining city that can no longer claim manufacturing as King of the Hill and it has seen better days and is a typical midwestern, rust-bucket city.

cleveland ohio attractions: Cleveland Public Art… - 06/21/09 02:47 PM
What a super cool organization to learn about right in your backyard!  This is a non-profit organization that works to beautify and improve public spaces throughout the Cleveland area.  Let's hear it for Cleveland's dedication to the arts again!!  This unique organization provides all kinds of services to the community including neighborhood revitalization and planning, community outreach and education, civic projects, and consulting and partnerships.
How vital is an organization like this?  Extremely vital to a large city that has suffered through hard economic times and loss of huge manufacturing centers of employment.  However, it is not enough to recreate a … (0 comments)

cleveland ohio attractions: Cleveland Indians…what can I say! - 06/21/09 01:11 PM
If you are a Clevelander, you already know what the title means, we are in for another season of being disappointed, angry, and heartbroken.  We so badly want our Cleveland teams to do well and to achieve the big time, but it doesn't appear to be in the stars.  Cleveland is such a great town and has so much to offer, both to its residents and to potential residents.  However, our sports teams just can't pass the muster...
However, when the weather is 70-80 degrees and you find yourself sitting in one of the finest baseball stadiums in the country, eating … (0 comments)

cleveland ohio attractions: Cleveland's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame + Museum - 04/19/09 11:53 AM
Cleveland's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame + Museum is quite an international treasure that attracts visitors, from all over the world, from all walks of music life, and it resides right down on the beautiful shores of Lake Erie.
I'm sitting here listening to The Boss's "57 Channels (and nothin' on)" track as I write this.  My wife and I took our two kids to visit this past week over spring break and what a blast we had.  From seeing Bruce Springsteen's corvette that he purchased after success with Born to Run, to Elvis' monogramed lincoln, to history lessons, artifacts, movies, … (6 comments)

cleveland ohio attractions: Pay a Visit to the Brecksville Little Theatre… - 01/25/09 11:49 AM
"Less than ten Brecksville residents, with a common love of theatre and their community, laid the foundation in 1941 for today's organization.  Since then we have made our home, through the generosity of the Brecksville City governance, in the Old Town Hall, a historic building on the town square.  The building has been completely renovated as a theatrical facility with state-of-the art lighting and sound."  http://www.brecksvillelittletheatre.org.

Truly a gem in our town of Brecksville, Ohio, the Little Theatre provides entertainment for everyone.  The productions are put on in Brecksville's Old Town Hall Building, a great testament to community's commitment to … (5 comments)

cleveland ohio attractions: Pay a Visit to the Brecksville Reservation… - 01/25/09 11:37 AM
One of the most amazing sights I have seen in a long time is that of a hawk circling intently for minutes before making its dive...no, it was the time when we were driving past the pond behind the library and the heron was languishing by the side...no, no, it was the time the doe and her four babies crossed the Metroparks road in front of us during a spring snowfall, no wait, I know,  it was the time we were all driving back from getting ice cream at Country Maid Ice Cream (which offers natural, homemade ice cream and deserves … (3 comments)
