Historical Home in Smithville TexasUploaded by debrowland This is the old Hill House that was moved to it's present location back in the late 1800's in pieces by one of the Hill family members. The story says they floated it down the river with the help of locals. This property was used in the filiming of the Tree of Life with Brad Pitt and Sean Penn. This is one of the grand dams of the historic homes in Smithville. With a Texas historical plaque, it was originally built around 1848 on the bluff overlooking the Colorado River, this home was moved to it's present location in town around 1880 by D.O. Hill. Set on three city lots it is one of the largest residential lots in town. The kitchen and second story were added after the house was moved by barge with the help of locals.
