family: The Eve Before the Night Before - 12/23/17 08:09 PM
The Eve Before
This has been a busy day getting ready for the family to come tomorrow to celebrate Christmas. There were a few errands to run and tidying up the house. Our tradition is to play Christmas music while we prepare so it makes the day more fun while we sing along.
In between running errands and getting a haircut, I made a couple of desserts and prepared a few dishes for the big dinner tomorrow. We have ham and the trimmings on Christmas and turkey on Thanksgiving. My kids are all prospering adults and will bring dishes to contribute to the meal.
This … (15 comments)

Serendipity Sundays - Indian House Blessing
I had the pleasure of attending an Indian House Blessing for some of my clients. It felt very special to be invited and an honor to attend. I was the only person in attendance that was not from India. At the front porch I removed my shoes and sat on the floor part of the time like the other guests did.
It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about another culture, celebrate with them on the purchase of their new home and to meet their friends and those that support them. The friends brought all the food and … (36 comments)

Giving Thanks for my Family
I grew up in a big family. There were 5 of us kids and lots of fighting and hand me downs. We had traditions many I have carried over still today. Money was tight but we knew we were loved and would be taken care of and would not without food or clothing.
I am the middle child. I get together often with my sisters and see my brothers a couple of times a year. We do not live in the same towns so it takes some coordinating and extra effort. There are lots of cousins and I like to know … (16 comments)

Some of the Best Christmas Gifts Aren't Bought in Stores
It is getting harder and harder to buy for some of my friends and family members. Some people on my Christmas list have just about everything. When it comes time to decide what to buy and give it becomes stressful and perplexing. I don't want to give something that they don't want or that will sit in a drawer or top of the closet unused.
So I have been thinking outside the box and coming up with ideas that are unique to the person. The gift of time is usually very appreciated such … (32 comments)

family: My 5 Things of Thanks - 11/24/15 09:48 AM
My 5 Things of Thanks

It has come down to the wire and I am finally writing about the things I am most thankful for in my business and day to day life. This is a contest sponsored by Happy Grasshopper and Dan Stewart. The hardest part was narrowing it down to 5 things so it took me all month of reading other members posts and thinking about mine to get it down to my short list of the most important things to me.

I am thankful for my faith. This has been a hard year and I have lost many friends and acquaintances. … (23 comments)

Realtors Family Feud in Clarksville TN
We had a great time watching the old cronies of real estate face off with the newer agents in Realtor Family Feud sponsored by the Young Professionals Network at our local Clarksville Association of Realtors®. After having a buffet of delicious taco fixings and a variety of beverages, the games began.
It was Old School versus New School answering questions that neither group seemed to know a lot about. Ha Ha. The Old School showed off and pulled out a win. Last year they didn't do as well because the questions can be tricky. What a fun event … (20 comments)

family: It Is a Time to Take a Step Back - 04/09/12 03:12 AM
It is good for all of us to take some time to reflect and see where we are in our lives and in our businesses. With the Easter weekend having passed, many Good Easter messages and greetings have come in by email and text to me. These are reminders that we need to stop and think.
For myself and my family, Easter is the celebration of the Resurrection and the gift God gave us by giving us Jesus, His Son, to take the punishment for our sins. It is also a time to look at God's great creation and appreciate what the beautiful spring weather … (2 comments)
