colorado living: Happy New Year Denver! - 12/31/08 09:50 AM

Happy New Year Denver!
There is still something about New year's Eve that I have thought ever since I was young, the flipping of the calendar page so to speak is actually quite eventful to me.  The start of something new & fresh has always been a bit inspirational to me.  Corny?  Maybe.  But true.  Wrapping up one year and putting it in perspective, evaluating goals in life met, and others to still strive for - I like it.  And I am not talking about your usual "resolutions" - its a bit more than that - most people don't … (6 comments)

colorado living: Denver Living - Perfect Fall Day - 11/03/08 12:18 AM
I originally posted this 2 weeks ago on my other Denver real estate blog, but since this weekend was again picture perfect and involved shorts, snow peaked mountains in the distance, near 80 degree temps, beautiful fall colors and soccer, I thought I would share here as well. - Steve

Just a quick picture to show you what it may look like in the fall if you were moving to Highlands Ranch.
I spent some time on Saturday taking a break from working with some Denver home buyers to watch my daughter's soccer game. This picture was taken in the … (5 comments)

colorado living: New Hamburger Joint Coming to Highlands Ranch? - 10/04/08 02:24 PM
My blogger friend from across the country has given me a scoop to tell you about.  Cindy Jones lives in Northern Virginia, and has told her readers about one of her favorite Hamburger hangouts - Five Guys.  I actually know of them vaguely - I have family in her neck of the woods and my brother in law mentioned to me that he likes Five Guys.  My wife visited this summer and became familiar with them as well.
Well, Cindy has family here in the Denver Suburbs - right in Highlands Ranch so she has shared that her family will soon … (6 comments)

Gelazzi is Much More Than Tasty Treats - They Give Back If you have been reading here for any length of time, you know that I do like to feature local businesses that I enjoy.  I have received very positive feedback, particularly from those relocating to Denver that they truly enjoy having the "local scoop" so to speak on where to head for what they are looking for.
Here is one more scoop that is too good to share.  And this time its a scoop quite literally.  For a bit I have had a new local business on my list and … (4 comments)

colorado living: Living in Highlands Ranch: HRCA Taking Memberships - 09/27/08 03:21 PM

Living in Highlands Ranch: HRCA Taking Memberships I was a little surprised to read an article in the Highlands Ranch Herald this week that the HRCA is now taking memberships from those outside of the Highlands Ranch HOA boundaries for membership.  You can read that article here.
Its not the idea that surprised me, I have heard this idea kicked around in thought speculation for some time now.  But I was surprised that it has started so soon.
HRCA has begun a program that they are offering up to 200 memberships for people to join.

colorado living: Living in Denver Suburbs - Streets of Southglenn Start to Open - 09/22/08 02:04 PM
I have been driving some Denver area home buyers around lately that were curious about the construction going on at the old Southglenn Mall.  They were relocating from out of state and their current area as they put it had "ancient shopping centers".
The new development is called Streets of Southglenn and although much of the construction is still underway, some of the shops are now opened.
My buyers in particular were delighted there would be such a nice place to shop & dine nearby.

Staples and Best Buy and the Macy Home Furnishings Department opened first and Dick's Sporting … (5 comments)

As I just posted this morning - the leaves are starting to turn here in Denver.  You can read it here:  Living in Denver - Fall Is In The Air.
And I have heard in the high country - things are just as starting as well.  Things were very cool this past weekend in the mountians, even some snow on the peaks.  I am hearing that between this weekend and the next 2 weeks it will be leaf viewing time.  If you are here in Denver looking for a home and have some extra time, its a great opportunity to get … (7 comments)

colorado living: Living in the Denver Suburbs - Fall is In The Air - 09/17/08 07:09 AM
Denver Living - Fall Is In The Air Its hard to know it with today's temperatures reaching into the mid 80's here in the Denver area, but fall is just around the corner.
Last week's cooler temps and the overnight cool down have started the leaves - I got my first real glimpse this morning while taking my morning walk around my Highlands Ranch neighborhood with my dog.

One of the things I have always really enjoyed about living in the Denver area is the wide range of temperatures - it can be in the 50's one day and much … (4 comments)

colorado living: Living in Denver - Chatfield State Park - Dogs Love It Too - 09/14/08 03:10 AM
The weather is starting to turn here in the Denver area - cool crisp mornings and evenings are still warm enough on most days for shorts & T-Shirts.  So before the weather completely turns we decided to take a much needed adventure to Chatfield State Park.
This wasn't our ordinary visit with fishing in the south ponds, or a picnic on the beach or an afternoon on a boat or a hike on the trails - this time we decide to bring our dog for his first swim! It was also an excellent time for me to share an afternoon with … (12 comments)

colorado living: Living in the Denver Suburbs - IKEA Will Build A Store in Centennial - 09/11/08 07:13 AM
IKEA Is Coming To The South Denver Suburbs - Centennial CO To Be Exact By noon yesterday, I had heard mention of the new IKEA store 3 times.  And by 5pm - that number grew to at least 15. Word spread quickly that there would be an IKEA store opening in the Denver area and while shoppers that are familiar with IKEA are delighted, there are further implications of the news as well.
Let's face it - the media tells us every day how rough the economy is over and over across the board nation wide.  But we have been hearing … (4 comments)

colorado living: Living in Highlands Ranch - Picture Perfect - 08/30/08 06:00 PM
Every now and then there are storms that roll through, particularly in the summer.  This photo was taken almost 2 weeks ago now, on August 17th.   We had a few days of rain, and then it cleared.
That is the view of the sunset I have from my Highlands Ranch home.

Are you looking for a home in the Denver area with a view like that?  Give me a call and we'll find one for you.

colorado living: Highlands Ranch Real Estate & Living - Wag N' Wash Coming To Westridge - 08/30/08 12:14 PM
Since I have become a dog owner in May, I tend to notice more dog related things lately.  And here's another.
They are building a new Wag N' Wash Healthy Pet Center in Highlands Ranch - a place where I can bathe my dog without stinking up the tub.  Not bad!

The Wag N Wash will be in the King Soopers Shopping Center at the Corner of Highlands Ranch Parkway and Wildcat Reserve Parkway.  According to the web site, the Wag N' Wash in Highlands Ranch will be opening this fall.  I am not certain of the exact date, but … (0 comments)

High School Football in Highlands Ranch is big.  Really big.  With 4 high schools in the area, 3 of them play each other in football and as you can imagine the rivalries get big.  You know I love attending football if you read my post bout football in Highlands Ranch last year as well.
