fall in central ct: Our Colors in Watertown CT Have Passed Peak - 10/26/14 11:20 AM
Fall Has arrived and the Colors have Gone
Like my friend, George Souto, I have offered a sequence of posts on the change of colors in our area. The area George has high lighted is almost the exact geographic center of the state in Middlesex County. I have focused on the Southern portion of Litchfield county specifically Crestbrook Park in Watertown CT. The park has some excellent views when on the golf course, and the panorama of the hills from the top of the second tee is breath taking.

fall in central ct: Watching the Transformation of the Colors of Fall - 09/27/14 12:33 PM
Waiting for Mother Nature to Paint her Canvas
We are into the fall season and the weather has been an extension of the summer with very little moisture and moderate temperatures.  The hills around our golf course are thick with hardwood trees and the colors are typically very bright reds and oranges. There has been little change as yet and as I was on the course early morning this week, I took a photo showing the trees for their current color.

If the opportunity presents itself, I will take the same shot over the next few weeks to show the … (15 comments)

fall in central ct: Welcome Fall, Where are the colors? - 09/23/14 01:11 AM
We have made the transition into the fall with the passing of the equinox. From here on out the colors should begin their transition and in short order with the cool nights and lower temperatures Mother Nature will paint her canvas.
For now, however, the colors are still quite green and a quick walk of the yard showed just a slight blush of red in an otherwise very green oak.

Good thing I put out the MUMs for a bit of color to start the season.

fall in central ct: It’s Time to Push Back the Clock in Central CT - 10/30/13 11:38 PM
It’s Time to Push Back the Clock in Central CT

Daylight Savings time will end at 2:00 AM on Sunday Nov 3. The days will be shorter of light and we will fast approach the time when we are into the cold weather and the white stuff that comes with it.

Remember to set those clocks back before you get to bed that Saturday and also be mindful that our real estate showings will get more challenging as we try to accommodate those work schedules with limited hours of light available.

fall in central ct: The Leaves in Fall are So Pretty yet Also so Much Work - 10/27/13 05:45 AM
The Leaves in Fall are So Pretty yet Also so Much Work
Our leaf colors in Prospect CT this fall have been spectacular, and they seem to be staying around a little longer than usual. Unfortunately, it doesn't last for ever and when they fall they need to be picked up.

We've been after them twice already and have at least one more batch yet to fall. When it comes to raking, it's all hands on deck and a rake for all.
No one excluded, and they are never too young to learn.

fall in central ct: Showing the Colors Fall in Central Connecticut - 10/17/13 10:25 PM
Showing the Colors  Fall in Central Connecticut
It's mid-October and here in Central Connecticut our colors are approaching peak. Although CT is not a very big state, the colors are very different across the state and timing is different as well. While the Norther part of the state may well be past peak, the southern part of the state is just starting to make it's transition.

Connecticut is a state with numerous hills and very few areas where one can appreciate the colors on the hills directly without catching homes or trees. I was fortunate to take a little walk and find a … (10 comments)
