YORK COUNTY GROWS York County was the fastest growing area in South Carolina. Our proximity to Charlotte NC (10 minutes south) has contributed to a population growth of over 5% based on the 2007 census. Charlotte, of course, is a dynamic and growing metro area. NC residents seeking a little less pace, lower taxes, and great schools are moving south of the state line to take advantage of the lower state and property taxes.
