I take pride in writing offers and I go to make lengths to ensure that the terms are clear and that vagaries are at a minimum so that a listing agent can discuss the contract with ease. In addition, I inform people when I have emailed, faxed or dropped that offer so that they can address it promptly.
I do these things because I respect the negotiation process and my fellow realty professionals.
So the other day, after emailing an offer and calling the listing agent to confirm its receipt I was surprised by the tongue lashing I received.
The real estate agent first started off the conversation by questioning the length of time I have been in the industry. Now, 7 years doesn't make me a veteran but as an active REALTOR, Manager, Trainer, etc. I think that I have earned the right to consider myself a knowledgeable real estate practitioner.
He then preceded to tell me about his 20 year history selling real estate and the various positions he has held during that tenure.
Finally, he questioned the validity of my buyer simply because he had the "audacity to ask for services". After all, I "should know that seller ... more
