St Cloud area real estate update: THIS IS A WARNING!
There is a scam being played out on Craig's list (and possibly other sites) that involves homes listed for sale.
The scammer pulls the listing agents data off real estate sites and places it onto Craigs list as a "Home for Rent" listing. After someone requests more info on the home they get a rental application calling for their personal financial information including social security number, date of birth,banking info and more.
These are false listings/posts, when the prospective renter shows up and knocks on the door, the home seller is confused, and it is to late for the potential renter by the time they find out that the home is not for rent. Please be very careful about giving out any of your personal data over the internet. This scam is wide spread and apparently growing. I know of 5 instances in the St Cloud area where this has happened with RE/MAX listings alone.
