A thoughtful comment to a blog post can be every bit as valuable as the blog post itself.  I was reminded of that today when I made a new, high quality contact as the result of a thoughtful comment I had made to someone else's blog post.
What Makes A Comment Thoughtful?
Ok, the flippant answer is "duh, thought!"  Well, that's the practical answer, too.  Reading the blog post, thinking about what it says, and thinking about what you have to say that will expand, magnify, clarify, reinforce, enhance, appreciate, etc. the content of the blog post, prepares you to make a thoughtful comment.
Cost / Benefit Of Thoughtfulness
It takes more time to be thoughtful, there's no question about that.  The payoff is much higher retention of what you read and understanding of how you can apply it to your benefit, and others recognizing that you have something valuable going on in your head, that they want to be connected to, when they read your thoughtfully written comments.  There's ... more
