The North -v- South Divide
I live and work in the San Fernando Valley: the Santa Monica mountains divides the valley from Beverly Hills and the Westside, and all of it is part of this great sprawling city called Los Angeles.  The "Valley" as it is referred to, is home to major film and TV studios, many "A" list celebrities choose to live in the valley and many of the valley residents are involved in the entertainment business.  There's plenty of money here, valley dwellers have just as much plastic surgery and Botox and most of us even have our own teeth.  Why, then, is the valley deemed to be inferior by Westside residents?  But wait, it isn't just here in LA that this snobbery occurs, it happens in other cities as well!  I'm originally from London, in the southern part of England, and the people in the north were considered unsophisticated for no reason other than their broad accents and strange culinary dishes.  So tell me, fellow bloggers, why do we behave this way?  Does it stem from insecurity and a need to be better than others?  Do share, and if you are from the wrong side of the tracks, I'll still be your Active Rain friend!
