Five monkeys, a banana, a rope and a fire hose.
 
Alan May is without a doubt one of my favorite bloggers here.  This one has one of the best stories/analogies I've read in a long time.
Are we doing what we do because it's the way it's always been done?  Are we blindly doing what we do because that's what the leaders or others have said we should be doing?
In terms of business practices.. it's always healthy to look at what we're doing and ask why.   Is it working for you?  Could you do something different?

Five monkeys were released into a room.  As they looked around, they noticed in the center of the room a climbing rope hung from the ceiling, and at the top of the rope was a ripe banana.
In the corner of the room, stood a man dressed in fireman's garb, holding a fire hose.
