Those of us who have tried to recycle used electronics know that there is often a recycling fee, even though the electronics stores usually charge us a recycling fee when we buy the electronics (It's one of those add-on fees that you don't pay much attention to.).
Sometimes a company such as Home Depot or Staples comes along and provides a free recycling event. Sometimes a city will have a recycling even because it's better to just let people bring them in rather than drop them off on the side of the road in the dead of night. That costs more money in cleanup fees than just waiving the recycling fee.
During the last five years, SeaWorld San Diego has joined the list of recycling hosts. Tomorrow, September 10, from 8:00 a.m. to noon, SeaWorld will host its eighth recycling event during those five years. Their events have collected 275,000 pounds of waste and raised over $27,000 for local, state, and national conservation programs.
All you need to participate is to be able to show proof of state residency. That and some electronic waste to donate to recycling. Not everything that uses electricity ... more
