If you aren't up to speed on SOPA or PIPA there is plenty posted today online to get you up to speed quickly.  I just "googled"  News for SOPA and got over 8,000 related articles.  Web sites like Wikipedia, Wrodpress.org, and Reddit shut down their sites today in protest of these bills.  Google blacked out it's trademark header.

In a nutshell, these are bills before Congress (one before the House and the other before the Senate) written to stop the problem of foreign web sites selling US intellectual property or counterfeit products (like medicines.)  A good premise, certainly - after all, one of the functions of our government is to put legislation in place that protects the citizens of our country.

The problem is that these bills have been written too broadly (and written to protect big industry) and would jeopardize how the Internet ... more
