WGNW 95.7 FM Asheville NC Take Radical step to Promote Local Music
 
As WGNW 95.7 FM comes under new management, it has taken a radical step to promote local music in Asheville and Western North Carolina. General Manager Pete Blackshaw says "While this station is owned and operated by Christians, that is not what it defines our genre of music. Our faith is what defines how we treat people, not our music style". The station is dedicating six hours on Sunday afternoons to local music, from 3:00 PM all the way through 9:00 PM. Local musicians can get more details at www.957TheChoice.com to submit a demo. The first phase of featuring local artists is geared towards singer/songwriters and acoustic style bands. The only stipulation is that lyrics be free from references promoting drug/alcohol use, obscene language and sexual references (love songs are great and welcomed.)  The official re-launch of the station is May 1st.
