Have you heard?  New Virginia  Law, Tenants and Water Accounts.  Your a landlord and the tenant decides to skip out on paying the final water bill.  If that happens a lien can end up on the landlord’s home. Effective July 1, 2012,   A new Virginia Law, will require tenants to pay a $250 deposit when setting up a new water service account.  This deposit will be applied to the final bill, to reduce unpaid final bills and to reduce the number of liens on properties.As this is great news for a landlord, however, you can guess tenants will be expressing their concerns for having to pay a $250 deposit to set up a new water account in addition to all the other costs of moving into a home you are renting.For more information from Service Authority Prince William County (PWCSA) on their implementation of the new law, Click here. ... more
