Forbes Ranks College Station Tops for Business and Careers
Highly respected financial magazine Forbes recently released its list of Best Small Places for Business and Careers.  College Station was ranked #6 for the nation and #1 in the state of Texas.  In fact, College Station was the only Texas city that ranked in the top 30 on Forbes' list.
When determining the ranking order, Forbes took into consideration job growth (both past and projected), the cost of running a business, the cost of living in the city, income growth, projected economic growth and the educational background of the citizens.  Quality of life was a big consideration as well: low crime rates, recreational opportunities and cultural diversity.  The availability of high ranking colleges in the area was also a major factor.
Last year, College Station was ranked as #9 on Forbes' list.  To be considered as a "small city", the population cannot exceed 250,000.  Due to higher business costs and stiffer business regulations, cities along both the eastern and western seaboard didn't make the cut.
