A beloved local charity event celebrates its 10th Anniversary this month as the Rondout Valley High School hosts the 2013 "Empty Bowls"! Taft Street Realty covered this event last year with an Rondout Valley Empty Bowls blog post and we're back again this year! This creative, positive, and absolutely delicious event has been helping those in need for a decade, and this years Empty Bowls promises to be better than ever! What started from humble beginnings as the brainchild of an Art teacher is now an established local charity event, with local artists, businesses, and restaurants all contributing to this great cause.
A Locally Organized & Student Run Fundraiser Based On a Simple & Powerful Image
An empty bowl is a simple and powerful image; such is the genius behind this event. Students and local artists create hand-made bowls, each one a unique work of art, and offer them for sale to the public. Local businesses and restaurants also lend a hand, by then filling those newly bought bowls with homemade soups, salads, and ice cream! All proceeds go to 4 local food pantries (Rondout Valley, Rochester, Rosendale, & ARCS of Kingston) so participants can feel good knowing that their charity ... more
