Lake Chatuge
Nesteld in the mountains of Western North Carolina (Hayesville, NC) and Northeast Georgia (Hiawassee, GA) is picturesque Lake Chatuge. In 1942, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) constructed a 2,950 foot earth and rock dam across the Hiwassee River, forming Lake Chatuge. Visitors enjoy leisurely walks along the dam, taking in the spectacular views of the lake & surrounding mountains. With more than 130 miles or shoreline and 7,500 acres of water, the lake has numerous finger-like projections or land forming intriguing coves for fishing, swimming, boating & water sports.
