Why can't I find anything affordable in Brentwood Tn - I get this question a lot, usually from parents who really want to take advantage of the best schools in the top school district in the county. The answers are simple.
Brentwood has great schools because the city has resisted the temptation to build high density housing that leads to transient students. Apartments and condos make a lot of money for developers, and some cities allow an unlimited amount to be built, but so far, the city of Brentwood has not apartments, and very few condo developments.
The result is that almost all of the students that start in Brentwood schools, graduate from Brentwood schools. You rarely have the students who are holding back the class because they just moved from Mt Juliet, or New York. It happens, but not nearly with the same volume you would see in Nashville schools, or even Murfreesboro.
The Brentwood guidelines for neighborhoods is still one acre per house. Notice I said neighborhood, so some homes are built on half acre lots, and land is used for green space that is managed by the HOA. Walking trails, playgrounds, and in some cases golf courses make ... more
