Fall Market Trends in Palos Verdes

A FISBO ( real estate talk meaning for sale by owner) seller disappointed in the low turnout at his open house remarked to me last week, " There's is no traffic on The Hill (local lingo for the Palos Verdes Peninsula) this week.  He was a bit perplexed.  He lamented, "Just when I bring my property on the market, the market cools off."
Years of experience under my belt helped me reply.  "It's August.  This is family vacation month.  It's also back-to-school month and all that entails."  Shopping, registration and a host of school related activities plus last minute summer vacations takes precedence over open house visitation in this family oriented community.
Josh and I are winding down our summer with the sale of a home in South Shores, one of San Pedro's best neighborhoods if you're in the market for an ocean view property at a reasonable price compared to pricier Palos Verdes next door.  After Labor Day we will list a home and close a sale in Redondo Beach.
