Drain pipes can come in many different types of material, each has it's benefits and shortfalls. Often times the type of drainage pipe used is determined by the architect or the building codes in the area. Be sure to check with your favorite general contractor for help.
 
We got a call for a client regarding the slow draining of this laundry room drain line. Snaking out the pipe did not help. In opening the wall we could see that the pipe was cast iron pipe. In removing the pipes we could see that the rust and corrosion was quite extensive inside the pipes.
