What is a tip up and do I need a shiner with that Tom Braatz?
My son Spencer will get ready to do the Pewaukee Lake ice fishing contest coming up in Waukesha County this winter. Once again, Spencer gets his arsenal of favorite lures, poles, varied and assorted snacks and food that he will eat while the grueling and strenuous ice contest is under way. Sitting in an ice shanty looking at two open holes takes a certain amount of conviction, pseudo tenacity, and desire and strength that many would not understand Spencer tells me. As he gets his gear together to head out at 5 a.m. he reminds he needs his favorite tip up and that he had better stop off and get some shiners in case they get Northerns or muskies.
