2015 One City One Pride LGBTQ Arts Festival in West Hollywood
 I remember well the day West Hollywood became a city. It’s hard to believe it’s been thirty years! What was once the neglected stepchild of the Westside has become a vibrant, sophisticated cultural center. It is also the epicenter of Los Angeles’ gay community. Many people refer to it as LA’s West Bank.  
West Hollywood is planning a celebration to show the world the kind of city it has become. The celebration slides right into the Gay Pride events. There promises to be something for everyone.
Thirty years ago West Hollywood was an unincorporated part of Los Angeles County. Santa Monica Boulevard was lined with small restaurants and gay bars. The center median was dirt. The sidewalks were lifted and in a state of general disrepair. Sunset Boulevard to the north was living on the memory of it’s place in popular culture, The Sunset Strip. Of course those days were long gone. Today Santa Monica Boulevard is lined with shops and restaurants which are some of the most dynamic in the country.
