Florida Red Snapper Fishing Season 2016 Fast Approaching
Start making your plans to catch delicious red snapper. Beginning May 7, 2016, the Gulf of Mexico state waters season opens for red snapper recreational fishing. You can fish for red snapper up to nine nautical miles from shore every Saturday and Sunday. On May 28, the season will open daily through July 10. Then it will be open on Labor Day, and every Friday through Sunday of September and October. Labor Day weekend is an opportunity for four consecutive days of fishing for red snapper. You only have 78 days this season so you need to plan your fishing trip now.
The private recreational red snapper season in Gulf federal waters is June 1-9.
The daily bag limit is two per person, which is included in the ten per harvester per day state snapper aggregate bag limit. The minimum size is sixteen inches in total length.
You can purchase your salt water fishing license online directly from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. An out-of-state license costs $47.00.
