Angie grew up in Cody, Wyoming (population 9,000) but I was born and raised in a small logging town of Gates, Oregon. After 21 years of service in the Air Force and many trips to Cody, we knew this is where we wanted to settle.
Despite having grown up in a small town, I had forgotten much over the years. One thing I learned quickly is that many small-town folks are far more educated, traveled, and accomplished than I ever would be. In fact, Cody happens to be one of those towns that attracts successful people looking to settle down after an accomplished life.
BIG FISH
Governor Al Simpson lives here. I've met him many times at restaurants, Sleeping Giant Ski Resort, and the grocery store. Despite being one of the best Governors in recent history, he's very down-to-earth and you wouldn't know he was a famous politician.
Ed Baxter is a former arm wrestler that competed around the world in the 90's. He was world champion twice and holds six national titles and 50 state titles. He was born and raised here.
