For Some Connecticut Residents 2017 Will Bring in a Raise
For Some Connecticut Residents 2017 Will Bring in a Raise
Nineteen states, including Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York, will ring in the year with an increase in the minimum wage.
Connecticut’s minimum wage will increase from $9.60 to $10.10 per hour. This is the last step in a 3 year process that raised the minimum wage from $8.70 in 2014 to it's current stage.
Connecticut was the first state in the country to adopt legislation establishing a $10.10 minimum wage. Since then, other states have passed that figure.
There are a couple of their laws that will take effect Jan 1 as well. The one that may give some residents a second chance is the requirement to eliminate the question box on job applications regarding prior convictions.  The point is to not prejudice a potential applicant without need to know the extent of their past, especially as younger people can get into issues just due to being there.  For sensitive positions, that is removed and a full disclosure can be requested if appropriate.
All are looking to get into the New Year on a positive and form Connecticut residents this could be a start.
